COMMUNITY
In Perennial Garden Club’s 75 years, we have prioritized making a positive impact in our community by serving as a resource to our community, both by giving grants as well as volunteering our time and efforts in support of garden projects in our area. We have been fortunate to lend a hand both in historic gardens unique to our nation’s capital as well as working gardens that showcase the importance and beauty of plants for our environment. In 2012, Perennial Garden Club was awarded a Founder’s Fund grant, the most prestigious award given by the Garden Club of America, in support of our partnership with the Bishop Walker School. In recent years, we have focused on the education about and installation of native gardens. Please click here for a list of recent grant winners.
In May 2025, in honor of our 75th anniversary, Perennial Garden Club selected three organizations for their work in support of native gardens and conservation efforts in our region. Each winner received a $25,000 grant, which will make a lasting impact on our community for years to come. Our winners include The American Horticultural Society at River Farm, C&O Canal Trust - Gold Mine Trail, and the US National Arboretum at Fern Valley.
In addition, three runner-up organizations, DC Natives, Horace Mann School, and Nature Forward (Wood End), received smaller gifts earmarked for native plant projects.
It has been an honor for Perennial Garden Club to serve and support our community in this way.
